The UVA Advancement Community inlcudes over 400 individuals who share a commitment to advancing the University of Virginia through fundraising, engagement, marketing and communications. Working on behalf of all the University's schools and programs, community members cultivate strong, mutually beneficial relationships with alumni, faculty, students, parents and friends, administrators and staff, foundations, corporations, citizens of Virginia, grateful patients and their families, external media, and the people they serve throughout the world. These relationships enable the University of Virginia to realize its vision through teaching, research, public service, and health care.
The Community Learning & Organizational Development office (a department within University Advancement) provides professional development, career development, and organizational development services to faculty and staff who work in the UVA Advancement Community. We serve our colleagues by offering on an annual basis more than 30 programs to about 1000 participants; creating and maintaining eLearning and on-line performance support tools housed on an intranet; and providing services to individuals and work groups. Our mission is to boost overall performance by developing the knowledge, skills, abilities and careers of those who work in the UVA Advancement Community. We directly contribute to the University's mission by helping to retain and develop great talent.
We are an energetic, positive, hardworking, collaborative team and are looking for someone who shares our core work values to join us in the role of assistant director of advancement community learning. The person we hire will be responsible for developing and maintaining eLearning and on-line resources; partnering with subject matter experts and vendor partners to design and execute a competency based curriculum that incorporates a blended learning model; and marketing and promoting programs and resources.
The ideal candidate has prior experience designing, promoting, coordinating, facilitating, evaluating, and managing in-person and on-line learning programs in partnership with subject matter experts. She/he will be well versed in instructional design including needs assessment, platform skills, evaluation, and adult learning theory. He/she will have developed and managed web-based information resources and job aides, and have used HTML editing tools and Google Analytics.
We seek an individual who is emotionally intelligent, outgoing with strong leadership presence, organized, sweats the details, is committed to providing excellent customer service, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and takes initiative. The individual we wish to hire will have the demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships, set priorities, effectively manage their time and meet deadlines. She/he will also have a good sense of humor and be a team player and also able to work independently. He/she finds a way to get things done within a matrix organization, is strategic, and effectively manages up.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Instructional design including needs assessment, facilitation, program evaluation, and deep knowledge of adult learning theory and implications for design.
Building eLearning content and job aides
Strong organizational skills including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, effectively prioritizing and meeting deadlines. Demonstrated experience managing projects independently from inception through implementation.
Customer & client service - ability to build and maintain relationships and interact effectively with program participants, service providers, SMEs, senior leaders, administrative partners and team mates.
