Assistant Professor, Special Education
The College of Education has approximately 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students in four departments. The College has 9 Professional Development Schools and recently launched the Center for Access, Success, and Equity (CASE). CASE is home to the new PhD in Education Program. The College of Education provides direct services and supports to the Rowan University Community and the broader community through the Early Childhood Demonstration Center, Special Education Assessment Center, and Reading Clinic.
The mission of the Department of Interdisciplinary and Inclusive Education is to teach and learn with a collaborative focus across disciplines and content area domains. Specifically, we seek to develop educators who impact classroom communities by:
• collaborating with families and community partners;
• integrating best practice, current research, and immersing themselves in school communities;
• and preparing and supporting all learners through the development of caring, inclusive classrooms and integrated curriculum.
The department offers undergraduate programs in early childhood education and in elementary education, a post-baccalaureate program (Teacher of Students with Disabilities), and Masters degree programs in Special Education, Learning Disabilities, Teacher Leadership, and a specialization in the PhD in Education program.
The Department of Interdisciplinary and Inclusive Education is seeking two high quality candidates to engage in transformative research aligned to the College’s commitment to addressing issues of access, success, and equity in P-20 education and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in special education from a sociocultural theoretical framework in a program that emphasizes inclusive education and collaboration with our P-12 colleagues and other educational organizations. The candidates may also supervise teacher candidates during their clinical practice experiences and serve as a Professor-in-Residence in a Professional Development School.
