The Assistant Director of College Housing and Judicial Affairs provides day-to-day management of the College's comprehensive housing program including 13 residential facilities and 2600 beds. The Assistant Director reports to the Senior Director of Residential Services and oversees student location management, room selection, assignment program, and support and oversight of the residential professionals in relation to housing. The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting of housing related data to college stakeholders, and external entities. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for leading the evaluation and assessment of student satisfaction and effectiveness of the housing program. The Assistant Director will also work in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Judicial Affairs with Student Conduct case assignment and adjudication of the Student Code of Conduct.
The Assistant Director will be a member of the Residential Services Leadership Team, and will participate in the supervision of residential professionals, and be part of the support network for residential professional on-call.
The Assistant Director will direct and manage the comprehensive student location and assignment process in the Office of College Housing, including Banner management, room selection, room assignment, roommate placement, space utilization, LLC management, special periods housing, all opening and closing procedures (fall/spring and break), affinity housing, group housing assignments, damage assessment, open room changes, consolidation, and all aspects of the location management function of the Office of College Housing. The Assistant Director will be responsible for student and parent contact and notifications relating to Housing Operations, to include the management of all publications for the office, form development, announcements, and software packages used by the Housing Office of Alfred State.
The Assistant Director will assist the Associate Dean of Judicial Affairs in the review, assignment, and adjudication of student conduct cases. In addition, The Assistant Director will work closely with the Hearing Officers in regards to training of hearing officers; personal development and growth in this area, and management of student conduct case management.
The Assistant Director will supervise the Residential Services Area Coordinator and will provide oversight and management of professional and student residential staff. The Assistant Director assists in emergency operations, special period's operation, and supports residential hall functions, including assisting in the support network for residential professional on-call.
The Assistant Director assists the Director of College Housing and the Associate Dean of Judicial affairs with training of professional, student staff, including Conference Assistants, Summer Resident Assistants, and Housing Assistants.
The Assistant Director will be responsible for development and coordination of assessment actives directly related to the Office of College Housing.
- Baccalaureate degree in Higher Education Administration, Higher Education Leadership, Organizational Leadership, Public Administration, Counseling or other related field required.
- Experience directly related to higher education, emphasis on housing and residential life and student conduct administration.
- Experience leading professional teams or programs in higher education
- Experience with selection and training of both professional and student staff
- Experience with use of Banner or similar data management systems
- Strong work ethic with demonstrated collaborative and coordinating skills
- Excellent communicator in both oral and written communication
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Higher Education Leadership, Organizational Leadership, Public Administration, Counseling or other related field.
- At least 3 years of experience directly related to higher education, emphasis on housing and residential life and student conduct administration preferred.
