Summary:
  • Individual will lead efforts in the importing, cleaning, transforming, validating or modeling data with the purpose of understanding or making conclusions from the data.
  • Individual will also serve as Honest Broker, providing support to several projects including PACE (Protected Analytic Computing Environment), CDRNs (Clinical Data Research Networks), plus other projects as need arises. Candidate must have experience designing, authoring and maintaining multi-platform job-based workflows; be experienced with data analysis coding languages, tools, and applications.
  • Participates in all aspects of project development including; analysis, development, testing, documentation and deployment.
  • Has the ability to troubleshoot complex problems with minimum supervision and is willing to support and make enhancements to existing applications. Works well with customers, project team leaders, developers and other support groups.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams.
  • Sit in on strategy sessions and be responsible for execution of prioritized initiatives.
  • Serve as a principal conduit between project/service functional stakeholders and the technical team delivering or developing the research solution, working under guidance of a project- specific sponsor representing ACE, ORI and the business.
  • Collaborate with appropriate technical staff within and outside DHTS to ensure that requirements for solutions are well understood; serves as a translator of, and advocate for, customer requirements.
  • Develop user acceptance test cases mapped back to functional requirements to validate solution against functional requirements. Assist in coordinating user acceptance testing and other quality assurance activities.
  • Manage workflow and consistently meets agreed upon deadlines.
  • Escalate issues, concerns and barriers to key project leaders. Assist and, as assigned, lead the prioritization of tasks/assignments. Develop and implement communication plans to all stakeholder groups and manages customer and stakeholder expectations.
  • Review metrics and share interpretations with ACE and ORI Leadership.
  • Work on data mining and migration for various projects.
  • Help to automate processes and create new processes/procedures.
  • Partner with the ACE and ORI staff to move projects forward and ensure adequate resourcing and infrastructure for project needs.
  • Support the Data mart team in development operations.
  • Create and maintain appropriate design documentation and requirements for developers;
  • Prepare documentation as assigned by a project manager or leaders;
  • Assist with the integration and functionality of all software systems used within ACE or ORI to maximize technical environment and create a sustainable data/reporting framework for delivering data to users.
  • Work with departmental directors, unit managers, SOM and DUHS leadership/administration, and appropriate research personnel to prepare requested reports.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to accept new or additional responsibility.
  • Assist with defining functional specifications of software systems or underlying data structures.
  • Seek and take advantage of opportunities to expand knowledge of clinical research operations beyond normal requirements or expectations.
  • Participate in creation and utilization of regulatory system validation documentation when required.
  • Maintain relevant and current knowledge regarding the reporting applications, databases, and operating systems related to clinical research reporting.
  • Understands the role of ACE and ORI in the overall corporate strategy and planning, and helps set objectives that are aligned with this role.
  • Proactively identifies and facilitates opportunities to enhance the quality and cost-effectiveness of data analysis needs and reporting across the organization.
  • Achieve a balance between individual, departmental and organization needs.
  • Consult with researchers and address questions related to data availability and use terms.
  • Deliver data according to honest broker workflow and compliance/privacy terms.
  • Actively participate in Duke or external (CDRN) workgroups pertaining to the Honest Broker job function.
  • Actively contribute and work collaboratively to improve the policies and procedures that influence the data request process Honest Broker program at Duke.

Education:

Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics or a relevant research or technical field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Preferred: Master's degree in a relevant or technical field plus two years of relevant work experience.
