Posting Summary:
The Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Research Scientist to work in the laboratory of Dr. Dan Gioeli. Candidates must have a PhD in cell or molecular biology or a related field, three years' postdoctoral experience, and the proven ability to lead a project and supervise and train laboratory support staff and students. Candidates with postdoctoral experience examining the physiologic properties of cells and the underlying mechanisms for how cells respond to the environment and knowledge of the tumor microenvironment and in particular how different cell types and environmental inputs influence how tumor cells survive, grow, and resist therapy are preferred. Preferred specific skills include: mammalian cell culture, transfection, transduction, immunofluorescence, generation of stable cell lines, handling of mice for xenograft studies, western blot analysis, FISH, and Flow Cytometry.
