The Division of Student Affairs at the University of Connecticut announces the opening of a full-time Risk Management Coordinator (Program Specialist 1), UCP 6 position in the Department of Student Activities.


Assists in the planning, development, design, implementation and evaluation of activities designed to reduce risk in programs and activities planned and facilitated by staff and students in the Department of Student Activities and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life; responsible for the overall management and operation of the Off Campus Activities Advising System; conducts studies, collects necessary data, evaluates information and prepares analytical reports related to risk management; serves as resource for staff, student leaders, and others regarding risk management and related topics; plans, develops and implements methods and techniques of informing/educating, in coordination with staff and student leaders; may develop topics, prepares information designed to communicate and interpret information to the public and others; conducts workshops and seminars to instruct, inform and/or train staff, student leaders and others in risk management; serves as a liaison to the Minor Protection Coordinator, Clery Officer, Director of Off Campus Student Services, and other relevant staff and organizations; supervises student data entry and management assistants; is responsible for the successful completion of individual projects; may be responsible for various administrative duties as assigned; may represent the program or department to external groups regarding risk management; performs related duties as required.


Bachelor's degree in academic discipline appropriate or related to the field of risk management or equivalent combination of education and experience; two to four years professional experience related to risk management; comprehensive knowledge of the risk management, and proven ability to apply a range of concepts, techniques and practices to carry out technical program objectives; proven ability to evaluate and produce reliable results, problem-solve and trouble shoot problems; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail; ability to establish positive and inclusive working relationships with a diverse constituency of college students, staff, faculty and relevant partners; ability to work in a fast paced environment; willingness to work irregular hours; experience using Microsoft office programs (word, excel, outlook).


Master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs or related field; experience with EMS (Event Management Software); experience developing and facilitating training workshops; experience as a leader of a student organization; experience serving as an advisor to college student organizations; experience with assessment and program evaluation, and using data to improve programs and services; experience with sexual harassment, harassment, bullying, hazing, and sexual assault prevention education; experience with student conduct and student organization conduct.


This is a full-time, 12-month position. Anticipated salary in the low to mid 50's with excellent benefits. Anticipated start date is July 7, 2017.
