Degree and Area of Specialization:

PhD in social or behavioral sciences, epidemiology, public health, health services research or related field. Must specialize in tobacco cessation, control, and/or policy.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Minimum 1 year post-doctoral experience in applied research specializing in the area of tobacco cessation, control, and/or policy, with strong focus on cancer-related questions. Experience in developing common measures across multiple research projects, then conducting complex quantitative analysis of resulting large data sets. Excellent analytical and writing skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with university faculty and clinicians in cancer centers, providing leadership on a major component of a project. A history of professional publication/dissemination of findings.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working on large, multi-site projects, especially as part of a centralized coordinating center. Experience leading and/or conducting qualitative research. Experience with program or project evaluation.



Position Summary:

The Scientist will be a member of the Tobacco Cessation Coordinating Center based at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Carbone Cancer Center. The goal of this position is to provide leadership and scientific support for investigators at select NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers across the US engaged in integrating smoking cessation services for cancer patients into local clinical workflows.



Additional Information:

Travel to two meetings per year in locations to be determined will be required. This position will initially be appointed for a period of one year. There is a possibility that the position may be extended for an additional year or converted to a renewable appointment should additional funding be secured.
