To assist the Office of Special Events in planning, management, and organization of functions and events that support the mission of the University, especially related to the Office of the President, the President's House and University Development. The position also supports the Board of Trustees Office and other departments, colleges and campuses and the general public in planning events as needed. Helps coordinate facility work requests, photographers, videographers, musicians and parking services. Works with caterers and other vendors as needed for events and special projects. Monitors expenses for events and the Office of Special Events. Compiles office and events budget reports. Liaison with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Controller's Office and Travel Office. Represents office on the University's calendaring and space reservation system advisory committee and other committees across the University and the community. Assists with the organization and compilation of all University photographic memoirs for special guests and office. Assists with various facets of commencement exercises and activities including, but not limited to, gifts, catering, parking, photography, reserved seating, etc. Helps coordinate special projects and events with Annual Fund, Planned Giving, Community Advisory Committee, Athletics and student groups. Other duties as required. Some evening and weekend work is required.
Master's degree or a bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant program experience.
Prefer a degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Event Management, Hospitality/Tourism, Educational Administration or related field. Strong technical background and knowledge of FileMaker Pro, Excel and Adobe InDesign is preferred. Familiarity with USC policies, procedures and systems such as Millennium, 25Live, and Data Warehouse are also preferred.
