Bucknell University is a national university of liberal arts and sciences, engineering, and management that is educating talented students in a highly intentional, residential setting. The Office of Admissions plays a critical role in communicating to prospective students and their families about the Bucknell campus experience and the successful outcomes of our alumni. Also critical in Admissions' work is a strong foundation of working relationships with secondary schools, community agencies that advise college-bound students, and independent counselors assisting students with their college choice. This relational marketing plan is one that creates an ever larger pool of prospective students and an extensive network of relationships. In addition to being supported by a strong, integrated network of alumni, parents, and friends of the University, the marketing plan will also be undergirded by a University-wide brand initiative undertaken in collaboration with Ologie (Columbus, Ohio). The Dean serves as the University's senior admissions officer and department head for the Office of Admissions. The Dean is a member of the Enrollment Management Leadership Team and reports directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM).

Job Duties -

Specifics responsibilities:
- Oversee all operational aspects of the Office of Admissions
- Select, manage, and evaluate staff
- Establish and manage the annual operating and recruitment communication budgets, and budgets for specific programs and activities
- Manage the application review process
- Manage all aspects of the University's comprehensive strategic recruitment plan, working closely with the coordinator of each of the following areas:
- Admissions communications
- Athletics recruitment
- Campus visitation
- Data management
- International student recruitment
- Multicultural recruitment
- Enrollment partnerships, including (but not limited to) POSSE and Community College Partnerships
- External transfer enrollment
- Review and approve annual plans for each of these areas
- Lead the process of selecting the entering class for the fall and spring semesters
- Collaborate with the Office of Financial Aid on matters pertaining to the packaging of entering students
- Serve on CAFA (Committee on Admissions and Financial Aid) and other University bodies as assigned
- Assume a leadership role, in conjunction with the VPEM, with the working relationship with Human Capital Research Corporation as they support development of new geographic markets and predictive modeling for admitting and enrolling first-year cohorts
- With the assistance of the Associate Director of Admissions for Research and Data Management, apply available research findings and data to strengthen current markets and identify emerging opportunities
- Lead the review of the office's research agenda in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Admissions for Operations and Technology, using resources such as:
- College Board EPS
- Human Capital Research Corporation
- Enrollment Planning Network
- Bucknell's Office of Institutional Research and Planning
- Collaborate with other members of the enrollment management division to establish a division-wide research agenda
- Coordinate with University's chief communication officer and/or designee on strategic management of print and web communication that support Admissions' recruitment goals
- Coordinate efforts and communications pertaining to legacy and VIP applicants with the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations for Admissions Programs
- Represent the University, particularly the admissions program, to various constituents, including prospective students, their families, secondary school and independent counselors, alumni, current parents, and friends
- Serve as Bucknell's primary representative to related professional organizations, including the National Association for College Admission Counseling and the College Board's Guidance and Admissions Assembly
- Understanding and interpreting NCAA Division I and Patriot League regulations as they relate to the recruitment, selection, and initial enrollment of potential student-athletes
- Serving as an ex officio member on the Committee on Admissions and Financial Aid
- Other duties as assigned by the VPEM

As a member of Admissions' recruitment staff, the Dean also participates in general office responsibilities including (but not limited to):
- Giving group presentations to students and their families
- Representing Bucknell to a wide and diverse audience in the high school and college fair programs
- Managing relationships with secondary schools (the Dean typically manages a portfolio of 24-40 select schools in New York City and/or other primary markets)
- Working evenings, weekends, and eight to ten Saturday mornings per year as needed
- Contributing to the dialogue with secondary school officials on behalf of the University
- Corresponding with prospective students and their families
- Involving alumni in the recruiting process
- Conducting ongoing prospect management with potential Bucknell applicants
- Participating in University committees and task forces as appropriate

Minimum Qualifications -

- Bachelor's degree
- At least seven years of college admissions experience (or appropriate related experience) with a record of progressively greater responsibility
- Prior experience motivating and managing personnel
- Articulated vision of the future opportunities and challenges facing the areas of college admissions and enrollment management
- Commitment to college admissions and enrollment management as a professional career
- Demonstrated commitment to actively participating in a community that celebrates diversity and inclusion
- Experience in the strategic use of research findings and data
- Experience in managing multi-faceted projects
- Experience in establishing and managing working partnerships with both internal and external constituents
- The ability to understand and articulate information pertaining to Bucknell University's academic programs, faculty, student life, and the support services that are necessary for students to have a successful experience
- Creativity
- A strong commitment to team communications and team building
- A keen sense of resiliency and optimism
- Valid US driver's license

Preferred Qualifications -

- Master's degree
- Familiarity with Slate or similar constituency relationship management systems focused on enrollment management
- Experience with enrollment management at a NCAA Division I member institution

Physical Demands -

Travel, both domestic and international, required.
