This is a full-time, benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
Under the general supervision of the Chief of Police, and the lead work direction of the Chief's Executive Assistant, the Administrative Assistant performs a full range of office support functions for the Chief of Police and other police admininistrators. The incumbent will relieve the Chief and other police department administrators of administrative details such as: processing standard and electronic mail; preparing and composing correspondence and other documents; scheduling and arranging appointments/meetings; creating and maintaining standard or electronic files and records; making travel and other arrangements; ordering and maintaining supplies, and performing other general office support and maintenance activities.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,000 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,539-$3,435 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Completion of a high school diploma or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
- Two years of progressively responsible administrative experience.
- Two or more years of experience working in a law enforement agency.
- Experience working within a higher education or public sector environment.
