Lecturer, Professional Development School (PDS) Liaison

The Department of Early Childhood Education in the College of Education invites applications for a non-tenure track, 10 month Lecturer/Professional Development School (PDS) liaison position beginning August, 2017.

Minimum qualifications:

Master’s degree in Early Childhood or related field; expertise in curriculum, instruction and supervision and possess a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring of emerging and continuing professionals. Leadership skills to collaborate with the chairperson, faculty and external partners. Commitment to collaboration with public schools.  Enthusiasm for working with students preparing to enter the early childhood teaching profession.

Preferred qualifications:

Professional experiences teaching in Early Childhood Education, Head Start and/or other inclusive early childhood settings; higher education and supervision experience.


Teach a 12 credit course load each semester including a combination of undergraduate and graduate level courses in early childhood education at the on-campus and off-campus locations. Serve as Professional Development School liaison to coordinate PDS activities at identified schools. Arrange internships and supervise interns in Anne Arundel County, and other schools as needed and collaborate with Professional Development Schools and agencies in the surrounding communities.

The programs in the Department of Early Childhood Education have received Nationally Recognized decisions by NAEYC. There are nearly 400 undergraduates and 200 graduate students in the Early Childhood programs.
