Position Summary: The Assistant Professor is a nine month faculty position in the ACEN accredited Associate Degree program for the Beebe distant site campus. Participation in teaching, student advising, and professional service is expected.
The position is full-time non-tenure eligible at the rank of assistant professor.
Teaching work load of the faculty is normally twelve hours per semester.
Faculty members are expected to:
Actively participate in development and evaluation of curriculum, course content, clinical experiences, and test construction.
Responsible for didactic courses and/or clinical group size appropriate to area of clinical practice.
Plan and supervise clinical seminars.
Establish effective coordinating relationships with co-workers and clinical agencies.
Continue education for professional growth.
Require teaching didactic and clinical practicum courses.
Participate in academic advising and guidance of students.
Maintain office hours.
Participate in the faculty organization and appropriate program, college and university activities.
Serve on assigned program, college and university committees.
Sponsor and promote planned activities of students, program, college and university as requested.
Contribute to the community through involvement in and/or consultation to health related organizations, board memberships, or professional presentations to the public.
Participate in planning for the continued growth and progress of the program through faculty and student recruitment and retention efforts.
Hold membership and participate in organizations that advance the profession of nursing and advanced practice nursing, such as the ANA or other professional organizations.
General Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., except on clinical days
Knowledge/Skills/Ability: Possess interpersonal and communication skills necessary to function as part of a faculty team.
Knowledge of curriculum design, strategies to promote student learning, assessment and evaluation of learning, evidence based education principles, basic nursing skills and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Possess interpersonal and communication skills necessary to teach as part of a faculty team.
Minimum Qualifications: Master of Science in Nursing degree.
Eligible for licensure to practice nursing in Arkansas.
At least two (2) years clinical practice as a RN.
Professional experience appropriate to the discipline is required.
