UNIVERSITY PHOTOGRAPHER

Job description

Duties: The Photographer will be responsible for documenting events, portraits, stock and supporting imagery to accompany homepage stories, the Penn News site and social media. Coverage will often be related to events surrounding the Office of the President with high-level administrators and external VIPs. Hours outside of 9-5 may be required as well as quick turnaround. The photographer will also maintain a successful digital asset management system and workflow for the archiving and sharing of assets. Additional design responsibilities may be required including but not limited to logos, ads and other collateral. Additional video tasks may also be required to assist the video producers with filming, editing and graphics.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Applicant must be creative and technically proficient in all aspects of photography, i.e. portraiture, photojournalism, events, sports, ceremonies. Applicant should be familiar with Canon SLR equipment, studio and on-location lighting, and the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and Lightroom. Strong organizational skills are required for the management of the University Communications digital asset management system. Additional preferred qualifications are familiarity with Adobe Illustrator for graphic design collateral. Professionalism and attention to detail is a must as the photographer will be interacting with the University President and high level administrators.

An extensive online portfolio demonstrating expertise in all areas of photography is required. Candidates without a portfolio will not be considered.
