Senior Math Tutor
Tutor students in all levels of mathematics taught at JCCC; refer students to appropriate media resources in the Math Resource Center; assist students on computers and other equipment; complete other duties as requested by the Math Resource Center Director; serve as pedagogical content expert for other tutors; assist with evening and weekend supervision as needed; participate in MRC outreach programs.
High school graduate or equivalent required. Completion of math at least 21 credit hours of math Calculus I and above. Must be able to tutor Calculus 2. Ability to communicate mathematical skills and concepts clearly, both orally and in written form, in a one-to-one or small group setting, in the full range of math courses offered at JCCC required. Computer literacy required. Ability to use and instruct students in the use of a graphing calculator required.
Demonstrated mastery of Calculus 2 and three out of the follow six courses (Calculus 3, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Elementary Statistics, Business Statistics, Business Math).
Willingness to learn and assist students in the use of math related application software preferred.
At least one year of math teaching or tutoring experience required.
Successful completion of at least 21 credit hours of mathematics courses Calculus 1 and above.
