Summary of Duties:
As a member of the Office of Development team in the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, the Assistant Director for Foundation Relations and Research will work with the Vice Dean of Research and the Senior Director of Development at the ESFCOM and other Advancement leadership and staff, as well as, with academic leaders and volunteers, to cultivate, solicit and steward organizations (foundations, corporations, associations and other types of organizations).

The Assistant Director will secure gifts and grants from private organizations for clinical, translational and basic research, as well as, the educational and health systems at ESFCOM with a target goal of $4.5 million. The incumbent must have strong grant writing skills and the ability to understand and promote the research initiatives of the college.

The Assistant Director serves as a strategist and resource for foundation fundraising and will manage a portfolio of primarily principal gift/grant level prospects.

Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which includes eighteen (18) months of full-time fundraising experience which includes demonstrated success of face-to-face solicitation of gifts of $1000 or more, mass market fundraising, event planning and management, donor stewardship, fund tracking and acknowledgements to donors OR comparable experience and one (1) year of managerial experience. Comparable experience totaling four (4) years of progressively responsible full time experience in sales, marketing, public relations or advancement experience which has involved direct face-to-face contact with clients, customers, prospective customers and members of the public may be substituted for the experience requirements. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
