Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Admission Visitor Services, the Senior Assistant Director will supervise all paid student staff, manage group tours, and assist in the oversight of the daily operations of the Visitor Center. S/he is responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training 1-2 coop paraprofessionals annually and 10-20 students per semester who serve as part-time as admissions assistants. The Senior Assistant Director will collaborate with the Senior Assistant Director of Admissions for Student Volunteers on the planning and administration of summer student staffing. S/he will work alongside the Associate Director to determine customer service standards, implement best practices, and provide continual training and evaluation of all aspects of customer service. The Senior Assistant Director will think creatively about how best to support and manage group tours to meet the goals of the office and university. The Senior Assistant Director provides the highest level of service and engagement to all campus visitors and University constituents, ensuring that the Northeastern brand and image are accurately conveyed. S/he will support Visitor Center operations including but not limited to weekly presentations and counseling prospective and admitted students on campus. In addition to supporting Visitor Center programming, s/he will participate in on campus events and programming for prospective and admitted students representing the office of undergraduate admissions. The incumbent will represent the university on admissions recruitment travel in a designated territory and will read, evaluate, and make admission decision recommendations on first year and transfer applications. This position requires occasional evening and weekend commitments.


Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred, with 3-6 years of relevant experience. Analytical and process management skills are essential. Strong presentation, and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. Must pay attention to details and possess strong organizational skills. The ability to supervise and mentor students is critical. Background in admissions or student affairs desired along with an understanding of student development. A successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high volume, fast-paced environment. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across units and is sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse constituencies is required.
