The Office of Research Administration and Finance (ORAF) provides leadership and expertise to faculty, investigators and college administrators in support of research and sponsored programs at Northeastern University. In the Office of Research Administration the Director of Award Administration leads NU's central research administration team, which supports faculty, investigators and college and central administrators manage their award from JIT through close-out. The Director serves as the institutional representative for all sponsored grant and contract awards and ensures compliance with federal, state, sponsor and NU regulations, policies and procedures.


Excellent interpersonal, communication, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills; demonstrated commitment to providing responsive, positive and effective support for researchers and college administrators.
8-10 years of progressively responsible experience administering sponsored programs (research and sponsored activities). Strong knowledge of regulatory issues and processes related to award administration. Comprehensive knowledge of research compliance areas (IRB/IACUC/IBC, fCOI/COI, etc.), including requirements institutional and agency prior approval requirements. CRA and/or advanced degree or equivalent training and experience required.

Thorough knowledge of extramural funding agencies and applicable regulations (OMB Uniform Guidance, FAR, NSF/NIH policies, etc.); prior experience with U.S. government contracts. Affinity for teaching and strong, clear communication skills (listening, oral and written). Capacity for collaborating across disciplines. Adaptive technology skills, including a strong working knowledge of eRA submission and management systems.
Capable of managing multiple, competing priorities under deadlines. Tolerance for ambiguity and a good sense of humor is a plus.
