Georgia Southern is located in Statesboro, Georgia, a classic community of approximately 30,000 residents just an hour from historic Savannah. It is recognized for providing enriching opportunities for people of all ages while benefitting the region and state.
Within this setting, the Department of Information Systems offers an undergraduate, on-campus Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) degree program that prepares students to work in a corporate computing career. The department is a member of the SAP University Alliances and has a strong reputation for being the lead institution in ERP/SAP curriculum in the Southeastern United States. Faculty members also participate in the delivery of the department's online graduate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) certificate program with an emphasis in SAP, as well as courses that support the Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Accounting (MAcc) programs.
Position Description. Reporting to the department chair, the limited-term instructor requires a master's degree and relevant industry work experience. All limited-term positions are non-tenure track, academic (9/10 month) year appointments. Appointments are for one year only, although there is the possibility of reappointment should funding permit and based upon satisfactory performance. (All reappointments are made on a one year basis.) The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
• Earned master's (e.g., MSIS or MBA) degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Information Systems or Information Technology
• Three years of relevant industry or consulting work experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Programming (Java, and/or SAP ABAP)
• Business Analytics/Intelligence
• Database Management
• Excellent verbal or written communication skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution
• Professional Industry certification relevant to at least one or more areas within the IS degree program
• One year of university level teaching or corporate training experience in one of the following areas:
• Programming (Java and/or SAP ABAP)
• Business Analytics/Intelligence
• Database Management
• Ability to teach via web-based instruction
• Ability to teach technically-focused courses in the Information Systems program, as well as MS Office applications
• Evidence of above-average teaching ability
Screening of applications begins June 16, 2017 and continues until the position is filled. The position starting date is August 1, 2017.
