Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The role of Lead Machine Operator consists of serving as the Machine Operator as needed, however the core focus is leading and cross-training others, handling basic machine maintenance and conducting troubleshooting. Serves as a mentor to others on the production floor. Ensures that the products meet quality standards, production goals are met and that the production staff is proficient in all job tasks. May be trained as the back-up to the location manager and will need to have basic office skills and working knowledge of a computer. May be required to travel on an as needed basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Coordinate production orders and assign job tasks/responsibilities to production staff
• Serve as support and go-to source for production staff when direction is needed or issues arrive
• Work in partnership with Branch Manager to set KPI and measurable standards for production staff
• Assist with the branch initiatives to cross-train and hire new employees and take part in the orientation process
• Serve as a mentor and coach for production staff
• Conduct safety meeting and on-site training as needed
• Complete work assignments in the office as well as on the production floor during the shift
• Serve as the back-up to the Operation Laminator to ensure that products are laminated in accordance with quality standards; verify that facing, fiberglass and tabs meet work order requirements
• Oversee machine setup, change-overs, facing changes, machine start up and shut down
• Maximize product output daily according to plan
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and report any issues/concerns to management
• Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures
• Accurately cut down rolls on band saw
• Perform general housekeeping responsibilities

MAY ALSO INCLUDE
• Peer-to-Peer mentoring of new hires; direct others to achieve goals via influence
• Cross-train on other machines
• Operate forklift, once certified
• Complete Warehouse duties, such as loading and unloading of trucks
• Assist with counting inventory

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certifications preferred

Experience:
• Minimum two (2) years of prior manufacturing or production experience in a similar environment preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Proficient in various aspects of troubleshooting and machine repair
• Knowledge of proper and safe use of shop equipment and tools
• Ability to observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
• Ability to perform basic math functions, including mental calculation of simple equations and/or fractions
• Ability to work flexible hours to include overtime and weekends as requested
• Ability to lead, influence and motivate team to produce positive results
• Ability to recognize substandard products and report issues accordingly
• Ability to apply basic reading and writing skills
• Ability to follow instructions and respond to requests for service and assistance
• Ability to ensure quality and continuously looks for ways to improve and promote quality
• Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to building a positive team spirit
• Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment while upholding organizational values
• Ability to work ethically and with integrity to show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, treat people with respect, and promote a harassment-free environment
