Attending project training for each position and passing assessment-related evaluations is required. Coordination with other project staff and classroom teachers is also required.
Hires may be working in one or more of the following capacities, as determined by skillset and education level:
Interventionists will conduct daily small group lessons to preschool and/or Kindergarten children in their schools/day care or Head Start centers. The intervention period will run between 18 - 20 weeks. *A Bachelor's Degree is required to work as an Interventionist.
Observers must learn and reach fidelity on an observation instrument and will then conduct classroom and small group observations intermittently during the intervention period.
Assessors will administer several individual language and cognitive development assessments, to preschool and Kindergarten children, which include standardized assessments and computer based assessments during regular school hours.
High school diploma. Experience in early childhood and/or elementary educational settings; this can include classroom teaching, tutoring, or other related experience. Applicants must be able to follow directions and pay attention to details, work independently, and communicate effectively with a diverse population. Other key attributes include the following: Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal skills; solid decision making abilities; ability to meet deadlines and work as a team member. Must have a valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation capable of transporting project materials on a daily basis. Must have reliable means of communicating through email. Must be available to work Monday through Friday.
Bachelor's degree in Education, Education Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Special Education or other related field is preferred, as is experience in teaching/tutoring and test administration. Background knowledge in early literacy and/or elementary school reading is ideal.
The Language Intervention Study at The Florida State University is seeking Assessors, Observers and Interventionists for a language intervention in Miami-Dade County. The duration of the position will be approximately August 2017 through May 2018. The primary location of work will be in local participating elementary schools with occasional travel to a local office, location varies within county.
All applicants selected for interviews must provide at least three professional references.
Anticipated Salary Range
Hourly rate depends upon position, education and experience and will start at $13.00.
This is an OPS/temporary Job.
Soft Money Funded Position
This position is time-limited based on soft money funding, with renewal contingent upon available funds and the needs of the University.
Position to include approximately 15-25 hours/week for specific weeks during the 2017-2018 school year. The typical work day starts at 8:30 am and ends at 2:30 pm. Hours will vary from week to week. There are some weeks when no hours are available, for example, winter break.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting.
