The Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto is seeking applicants for the position of Director, Division of Medical Oncology. Applicants must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The term of appointment is five years, renewable once following a successful review. The effective start date of this appointment is January 1, 2018.

An aspirational leader is sought to advance the academic enterprise of the Division of Medical Oncology over the next five years. The ideal candidate will be an internationally respected scholar and visionary leader with excellent interpersonal skills. S/he will meaningfully engage the academic leadership of the University and the affiliated teaching hospitals to build strong cross-department and cross-discipline collaboration, bridge diverse groups, strengthen capacity in research across disciplines, and provide strong mentorship to trainees and faculty at all stages of career. The Director reports directly to the Chair of Medicine.

Medical Oncology is a dynamic and rapidly evolving specialty that provides a wide range of opportunities in research, teaching and creative professional activity. Although it is one of the newest subspecialties within the Department of Medicine, the Division of Medical Oncology has evolved into a powerhouse of activity generated by 60 faculty members. The University of Toronto is the largest of the 13 accredited training programs in Medical Oncology in Canada.

The Department of Medicine is one of the largest in North America, with 800 full-time faculty members, 1,000 postgraduate trainees, and 19 sub-specialty divisions located across 6 fully-affiliated hospitals, 4 community-affiliated hospitals and more than a dozen additional clinical practice sites. Applicants must hold an MD degree and be eligible for certification in Medical Oncology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure in Ontario. The preferred hospital site for the Director's clinical activities will be negotiated with the successful candidate and be one of the following University's fully-affiliated sites: Sinai Health System, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, St. Michael's Hospital, University Health Network, or Women's College Hospital. Estimated total remuneration from all sources will be in the range of $350-450,000 and commensurate with qualifications, experience and clinical work.
