DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS ONLINE LEARNING INITIATIVES
Duties: The Director of Operations is responsible for the development, production, and implementation of online courses and programs across Penn's diverse set of schools in collaboration with faculty, administration, online learning teams at the school level, and platform partners. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director works closely with faculty and school teams to ensure courses are developed and delivered with the high quality consistent with Penn's brand and standards. The Director oversees staff members and vendors in the creation of online courses, course series, and other education technology projects; supervises promotion and marketing of online courses/programs as well as learner communications; serves as a liaison between platform partners and Penn; develops and implements processes to ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and best practices in online learning across campus and globally; supervises collection of data and performs analysis to uncover trends and opportunities within a fast-changing technology-based market; collaborates with Penn Center for Learning Analytics on projects related to online education; oversees management of on-campus and vendor resources and fosters collaboration between schools. The Director also supports schools to create innovations in the online learning space at Penn, keeps current with vendor offerings in the market, and promotes the Online Learning Initiative's reputation as a vital resource and champion for innovation in online learning at Penn.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Previous experience working with online learning platform partners, faculty, and managing production teams in the creation and launch of content for online education and/or MOOCs is required. Proficiency in working with online learning management systems is strongly preferred.
The Director of Operations should have proven experience in production of online courses as well as:
An understanding of the history of online learning, trends, innovations, and players in the space
Expertise in project management and ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Experience developing and operationalizing administrative processes
Experience creating productive team collaborations
Strong presentation skills to internal and external audiences
Exceptional customer service skills and experience with diverse constituents and stakeholders
Ability to delegate tasks and distribute leadership efficiently and effectively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
