The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) seeks applicants for a faculty position in the Health Sciences Management program to include both the Bachelor of Professional Studies in Health Sciences Management (BPHM) and the Graduate Certificate in Health Sciences Management (HSM) located in Charlottesville, Va. This is a full-time, 12-month tenure-ineligible academic general faculty, assistant professor appointment with potential for renewal.
The successful candidate will be committed to academic excellence in the execution of undergraduate and graduate online degree and certificate programs through teaching and managing the BPHM and HSM Graduate Certificate programs. The candidate will be passionate about teaching and engaging adult students, utilizing principles of effective adult learning; teaching load will likely be 4-4-2 (Fall, Spring, Summer). Responsible for ensuring academic quality and compliance of programs, including some course development; remains current in academic specialty, and explores, learns and utilizes new instructional techniques for online instruction; mentors students and faculty-wage lecturers. Candidate contributes, according to SCPS policies and processes, in effective collegiality, service and engagement activities such as faculty orientation, student orientation, information sessions, committee and work group meetings, and curriculum development; and, will serve as an effective partner to advance the programs and services of the School with colleagues in administrative, marketing, outreach and student services. Will work closely with HSM Program Director to ensure academic quality and compliance for programs; work closely with SCPS Recruitment Team to engage in recruitment and outreach activities for the HSM programs within the Commonwealth. The incumbent must have the ability to work under deadlines and to adapt to changing priorities and needs. Required Education: PhD in Health Sciences, Health Administration, Public Health, or closely related field. MBA degree also preferred
Required Experience: Record of extensive subject matter expertise and academic credentials in discipline; demonstrable experience teaching adult students; successful experience in applicable discipline; record of effective online teaching for adult students and willingness to learn and stay current with strategies and technologies.
Preferred Experience: Minimally five years teaching experience in health care management related courses in a college environment; experience working in a health science or health care environment or medical center; experience working in allied health education.

Required Computer Applications: Works with multiple systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Outlook and Calendar and internet browsers; and, student information systems, learning management systems such as Sakai, Blackboard, etc.
