Job Summary This position reports directly to the Senior Farm Manager on the ADS-Athens Campus and the Head of the Animal & Dairy Science (ADS) Department. This position is responsible for providing leadership and management of the Athens Dairy Farm. The individual will be responsible for supervision of full-time and temporary staff including training, evaluation, and scheduling work; implementing and supervision protocols to ensure proper animal care and health; maintaining production, maintaining inventory and financial records, and assisting with procurement of feed ingredients, supplies, and equipment. Daily responsibilities include planning, organizing, directing and direct participation in milking, feeding, herd health, reproduction, waste management, and facility and equipment maintenance. The Farm Manager is expected to work with the Senior Farm Manager and veterinarians to develop and implement standard operating procedures for all aspects of the operation. The Farm Manager will work closely with faculty, other staff members and students to facilitate research, teaching, extension, and farming activities at the Dairy Farm and within the Department. The Farm Manager will be expected to actively contribute to the Department's teaching program. Additional responsibilities include supporting the dairy industry and promoting a positive image of the university by maintaining the dairy herd, facilities and surroundings in a neat and attractive manner and assisting with tours, field days and other outreach events. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in animal science, agronomy or related field and 2 years of experience in farm management OR any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must hold EPD certification as a certified operator for a CAFO.
