CSIM Flight Demonstration Calibration Engineer
The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics invites applications for the position of Calibration Engineer/Scientist who will be responsible for the characterization and calibration of photometric devices, optical components, and flight instruments operating in various regions of the electromagnetic spectrum from the Extreme Ultra-Violet 20 nm to the Near Infrared 2.4m. The successful applicant must be familiar with standard data analysis software packages and will be expected to present both written and oral reports of test results and analyses. He or she will work under the general supervision of the Calibration and Test group manager and may in turn be responsible for the supervision of student assistants.
- The position requires a B.S./B.A. or higher level degree in Physics, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related science; a general understanding of experimental physics, optics, mechanics, and detector electronic circuits; and 4-7 years experience in testing photometric detectors and instruments.
- Applicants with knowledge of programming and software applications such as IDL, Labview, Zemax, and Solidworks are preferred.
- Experience with vacuum systems and clean rooms is highly desirable, but not required. Experience gained as a student will be considered. One position is open and will start approximately April -May 2017.
