Position Summary: Works closely with the providers, front desk and lab staff to manage patient flow. Responsible for patient assessment, triage, and provides support to clinical staff. Contribute to the overall success of the Health Center by anticipating patients’ needs and assuring that both patient and environment are ready for visit. Assists providers during exam as needed, provides assistance and guidance to patients throughout medical encounter. Supports front desk staff, as appropriate and when needed. Reporting Relationship: Reports to Nursing Supervisor and Director of Student Health Service. Position Responsibilities:•Perform direct patient care, including wound care, administering allergy injections, immunization injections, assist with procedures such as: removing sutures, removing foreign bodies, ear wash, blood sugar testing, obtain IV access, administer IV fluids, administer IM and subcutaneous injections, perform phlebotomy, and others.•Prepare patients for provider; provide basic health information and nurse advice.•Administer inhalation therapy.•Interview patients on birth control pills after 3 months of usage: including taking vital signs, administering questionnaire, referral to medical practitioner if complications arise, and preparing prescription for practitioner signature.•Assist medical providers during the medical encounter. Supplying practitioners with instruments and all other supplies needed for medical examination.•Assist with specialty clinics, including orthopedics, women’s clinic, and optometry.•Perform basic in-office lab tests, administer, read, and interpret PPD’s.•Maintain inventory of medications and supplies in the treatment rooms and crash cart.•Maintain equipment and instruments, including autoclave. Work with the Clinic Manager in ordering supplies and requests for repairs to instrumentation.•Assist administrative staff with front office duties as needed.•Operate vision check machine, ECG machine, autoclave, and audiometer machines.•Interact with staff in an effort to reduce problems and resolve conflicts.•Back-up responsibilities during vacations, and during absences of other staff members for the hallway, front office, pharmacy, and Medical Group Practice.•Other duties as assigned.
