General Summary of Position:
The Office of Residence Life employs three Associate Directors. Each Associate Director participates as a member of the Residence Life Management team, and is responsible for the day-to-day operations within Residence Life. Primary areas of responsibility for two of the Associate Directors include supervision of professional Area Coordinators and Resident Directors and oversight of leadership development, the residential curriculum and departmental committees.
In addition, each Associate Director has a primary functional responsibility for departmental leadership in areas such as staff selection and training, living-learning communities, inclusion and diversity education initiatives, student success and persistence.
Responsibilities for the position include:
Directly Supervise 4-6 Professional Area Coordinators and Resident Directors
Provide oversight of departmental committees including diversity education, residential curriculum and learning communities.
Coordinate leadership development opportunities for residential students.
Indirectly supervise graduate fellows including graduate Assistant Area Coordinators.
Establish and maintain partnerships with academic schools and colleges, deans, faculty, staff, and university partners.
Provide direction and leadership for the Office of Residence Life in the absence of the Senior Associate Director of Residence Life.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
-Master Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel or a related field is required
-Minimum of 5 years of increasing experience and responsibilities in Residence Life, including housing, judicial, administration and development
-Three to four years in a middle management residence life position supervising full time professional staff
-Working knowledge of contracts, project management, and capital renovations
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
-Working knowledge of housing assignment processes
-Proven ability to address student needs and establish a positive rapport with students, students groups, faculty/staff, and parents while demonstrating openness and integrity
-Competency with various software and computer applications including word processing, database management, spreadsheet, PeopleSoft, StarRez, and Crystal Reports
-Demonstrated experience developing and working with teams
-Strong communication skills, both written and oral
-Affinity with the overall mission of the University of Massachusetts Lowell
