RESEARCH INVESTIGATOR SR
Duties: The Neuropsychiatry Section of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania and the Lifespan Brain Institute (LiBI) at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) seeks candidates for a Senior Research Investigator position. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Quantitative Psychology with a focus on psychological measurement and structural equation modeling. Primary responsibilities include participation in a multi-disciplinary team of basic and clinical neuroscientists in the specific role of statistical analyst and modeler, with particular emphasis on psychometrics (especially factor analysis and IRT). The applicant must have a thorough knowledge of the R Statistical Package, and experience with at least three of the following: Mplus, EQS, IRTPRO, lavaan, Concerto, or CEFA. The applicant should have experience with the following: DIF analysis, Computerized Adaptive Test development and programing (e.g. via Concerto), test linking, MIMIC modeling, and all aspects of the exploratory and confirmatory factor analytic process. In addition, the applicant should have excellent communication skills and the ability to write methods-related sections of grant applications. This will almost always include creation of clear and visually appealing tables and figures. He/She should have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, usually under the direction of multiple primary investigators with highly variable needs and timelines. The applicant should also be willing and able to assist junior staff in the process of career advancement, including the teaching of contemporary psychometric methods and assistance in building a strong CV (including publications).
Qualifications: Highly advanced professional discipline. PhD or equivalent doctoral degree and 5 years to 7 years of experience required. Completed postdoctoral fellowship preferred. Experience must include development and psychometric evaluation of tests and scales, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellent qualifications in quantitative methodologies, especially psychometrics.
