CENTER FOR TRANSLATIONAL PAIN MEDICINE
Provide overall administrative day-to-day management and coordination of the research related functions including personnel, space and facilities planning, event planning, pre-award grant preparation and grant submissions, correspondence, coordinating and scheduling travel, policy interpretation, and dissemination of information within and outside of the Department of Anesthesiology's Center for Pain Research and Innovation (CTPM). This Center consists of faculty, several staff and graduate students. This position will work closely with the Department Business Office staff and the Chief Administrator.
In addition, this position will support the Vice Chairman for Research in the day-to-day management and development of the Department of Anesthesiology's research portfolio and infrastructure. Functions include, but are not limited to, event and meeting planning, recruitment activities, scheduling travel, interacting administrative staff across the university system.
Coordinate departmental CTPM grant needs by meeting with CTPM faculty quarterly basis to assist with the identification and development of grant and contract funding. This will include maintaining and developing administrative pages for investigators for both federal and non-federal grants and contracts.
Assist the Vice Chair for Research with correspondence and developing quarterly report updates on the Department's research portfolio. Assist the CTPM Director and Vice Chair for Research with staff questions related to human resources, facilities and administration of programs and laboratories.
Assist the CTPM Director and the Vice Chair for Research with branding and promoting the research infrastructure of the Department of Anesthesiology.
Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and applications to include compilation of data and preparation of budget expenditures; prepare administrative reports for submission to sponsoring agency. Works with Department research administration team on all pre-award and post-award coordination.
Maintain interface with departmental personnel to coordinate operational activities to ensure adequate staffing, space, and facilities; coordinate purchasing, maintenance and renovation activities for department; administer a program of property management and accountability. Issuing instructions in the name of the CTPM Director in accordance with departmental precedents and policies.
Prepare quarterly and annual financial and operational reports. Works with Department Business Office to provide reports and information as requested.
Monitor the CTPM Director and Vice Chair for Research on affirmative action requirements, classification issues, performance appraisals, and employee training and development; maintain liaison with Human Resources and other appropriate offices and departments to respond to personnel problems, issues, and special requests and to facilitate personnel actions.
Supervise Staff Assistants and other CTPM/ Vice Chair and staff and coordinate the work of designated employees reviewing completed work for adherence to instructions or correctness.
Works closely with the Business Office on report preparations and obtaining guidance on processes and procedures. This individual will meet with Business Office staff and the Chief Administrator on a regular schedule as appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned by the CTPM Director and Vice Chair for Research.
