The Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Virginia is seeking a Laboratory Specialist to work under the supervision of Dr. Matthew Lazzara.
The successful candidate will assist with projects in the Lazzara lab studying cell signaling in mammalian cell systems. Duties will include experimental design and troubleshooting, execution of experiments, and data recording and analysis. Duties will also include assistance with basic management and maintenance of the laboratory including ordering and preparation of stock solutions and common use lab materials.
A B.S in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field, with experience in mammalian cell culture and basic cellular-molecular biology experimental techniques, including but not limited to manipulation of DNA constructs, engineering and validation of cell lines, microscopy, and immunoblotting, is required. Experience with flow cytometry is also desirable.
