At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist/ Technician is a valuable member of our team, who provides who provides clinical services to our patient population. Will maintain specific knowledge of safe laboratory practices as endorsed by the New York State Department of Health and Occupational Safety and Health Administration and conducts oneself in a manner consistent with those practices to ensure the safety of all lab personnel.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Duties of a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist may include but are not limited to the following:
• Line responsibility for the performance of clinical analysis s in the Department of Laboratories.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance as assigned according to established protocols to ensure proper instrument performance.
• Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures.
• Proficient in computer protocols as assigned.
• Adhere to all SBUH and departmental policies and protocols.
• Interact in a professional manner with nursing staff, physicians, support staff, peers and other members of the hospital community.
• Perform other clinical duties as assigned.
- This position requires the employee to work every other weekend with variable pass days and holidays as assigned.
SL-1: NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist with 0-2 years demonstrated relevant laboratory experience.
SL-2: NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist with 2-5 years demonstrated relevant laboratory experience.
SL-3: NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist with a minimum of 6 years of demonstrated relevant laboratory experience.
Generalist with a strong background in Hematology and Chemistry. Night Shift Experience. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Biological or Life Sciences, ASCP Certification or Equivalent. Master’s Degree.
This is a temporary night shift appointment.
This position requires the employee to work every other weekend with variable pass days and holidays as assigned.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services (The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination), submit (3) written references, and provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
