Minimum of 7-10 year of professional work experience in human resources. Experience working within university human resources preferred.

The position requires significant knowledge of and the ability to apply human resources and payroll and benefits theory, law, systems, processes, and practice to create a work environment for the Wisconsin School of Business which supports successful programs and the continued development and success of staff and faculty.

Demonstrated knowledge of the following:
-Principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation & benefits, employee relations, human resources information systems, and managing employee wellness initiatives;
-Faculty, staff, and lecturer hiring processes and procedures;
-Understanding of HR function as a partner in accomplishing organizational goals;
-EEO, labor, and other relevant laws;
-Budget planning & preparation;
-HR Information Systems;
-Payroll & benefits processes

Position Summary:

This position reports directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Administration for the Wisconsin School of Business and manages a team of four fulltime employees who represent the Human Resources, Employment Relations, Payroll and Benefits functions supporting the school's staff, faculty, and student employees.

The Wisconsin School of Business employs over 85 faculty and over 250 staff members in support of its programs, which include an undergraduate program, a range of graduate degrees, and executive education offerings. Its Knowledge Centers bring together researchers, students and business leaders to build life-long learning communities. Effective human resource management is particularly critical to the success of the School, which is driven heavily by collaborative activity, expressed by the brand essence "Together Forward."

The Assistant Dean for Human Resources coordinates human resources activities for all units of the Wisconsin School of Business to maximize the strategic use of human resources throughout the school. The Assistant Dean will lead a staff to maintain personnel policies and procedures, employee compensation, benefits, recruitment, employee relations, training and development, and legal compliance and is responsible for working with the Financial Management Office to coordinate and administer the annual budget process.

-Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in management and employee supervision
-Effective in consulting with various constituencies, sharing creative and innovative ideas to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of human resources, payroll and benefit services with the College
