Stanford University, Sean N. Park Center for Allergy Research center is seeking a Research Operations Manager (Administrative Services Administrator 2), to lead and administer programs or functions under minimal supervision.

The Sean N. Park Center for Allergy Research center is comprised of Stanford specialists in diverse fields including immunology, gastroenterology, otolaryngology, chemistry, bioengineering, pathology, pulmonology, and genetics. Through laboratory and computational research, clinical trials, community outreach, and other efforts, the team will work toward finding rationally-based therapies to provide the safest and best treatments for allergies. Research at the center may have implications for a wide array of immune dysfunctions including asthma, eczema, food allergies, eosinophilic disorders, drug allergies, gastroenterological diseases, and more.

Duties include:
  • Lead the planning and operations for functions or programs that have significant business, regulatory and/or technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise.
  • Evaluate programs, policies and procedures. Identify issues, and develop alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies and procedures.
  • Review and analyze trends to advise and develop recommendations to achieve or modify the goals of the program or function.
  • Represent the program or function within the department, unit or school. Represents the program or function at the university level and/or to external constituencies.
  • Manage and contribute to the development of outreach strategy that may include relationship development, communications and compliance.
  • May development and/or oversee budgets; manage finances including monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Assess training needs and may develop associated training.
  • May direct and/or supervise staff.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, self-starter with extensive prior management experience.
  • Familiarity with grants management (Clinical trial research, industry sponsored studies, NIH, Non-profit foundations, fellowships, etc.).
  • Familiarity with contracts with sponsored research and with material transfer agreements.
  • Familiarity with wet and dry lab research process, and with clinical trial research.
  • MBA, MHA, or MPH.
  • Experience supervising.
  • Passion for making administrative operations run efficiently, effectively and transparently.
  • Training and practical experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and human resources management.
  • Ability to quickly learn new topic areas and the motivation and flexibility to operate in a growing and rapidly changing organization.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.
  • Resourceful and flexible.
