The Psychology Department in Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Research Associate 2. Responsibilities Include: Assist the PI in establishing and facilitating a network of medical professionals who help refer eligible study participants to the study and assist in maintaining the relationship until the completion of the longitudinal study. Identify and recruit eligible cancer patients and their family members (study participants). Assist the PI in revising study materials, if necessary. Oversee the IRB process and ensure that the highest ethical standards are followed in research activities. Serve as liaison among the PI, medical professionals and student interns. Collect psychological and bio behavioral data from eligible participants across three assessment points.Manage and report enrollment and retention of study participants. Manage and report the study budget. Perform basic data analyses and be involved in annual progress reports. Other duties as assigned.

The minimum requirements are: B.A. degree in Psychology, Public Health or other related field. Two years work related experience. Individual must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, highly organized, pay attention to details, motivated, work independently as well as with others in a research environment. Excellent English/Spanish skills (both verbal and written) required. Knowledge and understanding of research methodology, psycho-oncology, basic statistics, and concepts of cultural competency. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.

Patient safety is a top priority. As a result, during the Influenza ("the flu") season (September through April), the University of Miami School of Medicine requires all employees who provide ongoing services to patients, work in a location (all Hospitals and clinics) where patient care is provided, or work in patient care or clinical care areas, to have an annual influenza vaccination.
