Reporting to the Assistant Director for Information Technology, this Auditor will use data analytics tools, including IDEA (specialized data software), Excel, Access, Tableau etc. to:

•Conduct (or assist the Senior Auditor in conducting) reviews of assigned organizational and functional activities.
•Contribute to the planning of assigned audits including audit scope and objectives, risk assessments, audit programs and data analytics projects.
•Design and build data analytics scripts to meet specific objectives of audits and see if they can be reused on a continuous basis to strengthen the system of internal controls.
•Assist in evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of the management controls over those activities.
•Determine whether organizational units in the University are performing their planning, accounting, custodial, or control activities in compliance with management instructions, applicable statements of policy and procedures, and in a manner consistent with both university objectives and high standards of administrative practice.
•Execute complete reviews of limited audit assignments, or conduct reviews of portions of extensive audit assignments, in accordance with accepted professional standards. These assignments may involve travel to any or all of the University of Miami campuses.
•Draft reports of audit findings and recommendations for the correction of unsatisfactory conditions, improvements in operations, and reductions in cost.
•Perform limited procedures or assist in performance of special assignments at the request of the Executive Audit Director and the Chief Audit Executive.

Authority and Responsibility:
Under guidance:
•Conduct audit procedures for routine or repeat audits (Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and Payroll) as outlined in the audit program.
•Under the direction of the assigned in-charge auditor, perform segments of new audits, special projects, and/or investigations.
•Develop findings relating to assigned audit area.
•Suggest changes in the audit procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.
•Participate in drafting the audit report.
•Conduct verbal discussions with the auditee throughout the fieldwork stage of the audit.
•Provide input as to the adequacy of auditees' responses to the Internal Audit Report recommendations.
•Conduct follow-up procedures subsequent to the auditees' responses to determine if the reported corrective action has been taken and is working effectively.
•Perform administrative tasks as assigned.
•Perform other duties as directed by the Assistant Director for Information Technology, Executive Audit Director or the Chief Audit Executive.

Requirements:
• Degree in accounting, computer science, or related field.
• One year of public accounting, internal audit, or data analytic experience.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Ability to work well with others, persistence and initiative are characteristics of the person filling this position.
• Although there is some detail work involved in this position, the individual should be ready and willing to assume more responsibility and should demonstrate a minimal amount of supervisory capabilities.
