Job Summary:

The Chemistry Instructor is a full-time faculty position located on the Gillette Campus. This faculty will be responsible for teaching core courses in Chemistry and Nutrition. Other duties include curriculum development, advising and mentoring students, engaging students in undergraduate research and participating in collegial activities with peers in Sheridan and Gillette. This faculty will use innovative methodologies to facilitate learning and will be an active participant of assessment of student learning outcomes at the course, program, and institutional levels. This position will also require community outreach and student recruitment and retention efforts in STEM areas.

  • Ability and temperament to work with the broad spectrum of students found in a community college environment.
  • Must have a commitment to the natural sciences, the connection of the natural sciences to nutrition and wellness, and a commitment to collaborations with other disciplines.
  • Knowledge, or exposure, to most of the following areas: Chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, food science, nutrition, foundational algebra-based mathematics.
  • Courses to be taught will most likely include the following: General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Nutrition, Research Problems, Gateway to Student Success, Elementary Algebra

Minimum Qualifications including education, experience:

  • Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours of Chemistry.
  • Preferred: Ph.D. in Chemistry.
  • Teaching experience, preferably at the community college level.
