Under direction, the Program Services Coordinator assists in the planning, coordination, and implementation of the International Education Program, such as recruitment, international admissions, international orientation, SEVIS and immigration advising, registration, student support, special events, tours, individual and specialized programs. Public contact is extensive and can include domestic and international students, staff, foreign-based individuals and educational institutions, community and business representatives, governmental agencies and the general public, for the purpose of exchanging program information and services. A high degree of independent judgment and creativity are required to adequately represent the college and program, to serve as a technical resource person for the program, and to design original program components and services. Consequences of errors in judgment can be costly; however, management controls limit the risk of more serious consequences. The Program Services Coordinator can lead the work of student assistants, proctors, and other staff as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sociology, education, international studies, or a closely related field
• Successful experience of increasing responsibility in international education, student services, or a related area
• Extensive public contact experience that has demonstrated respectful and sensitive communication with people at various levels within an organization who are diverse in their cultures, language groups and abilities
• Experience with program planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Experience with training and leading the work of others
• Experience with research, formatting, assessment and preparation of data for reports and other materials
• Experience with the use of a variety of computer software to track and monitor data
• Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication, including public speaking
• Demonstrated skill in multitasking, prioritizing workloads, and working independently
• Demonstrated skill in working as part of a customer service team

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of specific program and related college services available to students and other potential participants
2. Knowledge of U.S. and foreign education systems
3. Knowledge of applicable and available community, business, governmental and educational resources
4. Skill in oral communication, including public speaking
5. Skill in written communication
6. Skill in short- and long-range program and event planning, program and event implementation, coordination, and evaluation
7. Demonstrated experience working in international education; knowledge of federal regulations; knowledge of SEVIS
8. Skill in sensitive, respectful and effective communication with people of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities
9. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and efficient working relationships; working effectively as part of a team
10. Knowledge of cross-cultural exchange, culture-shock, and cultural adaptation strategies
11. Flexibility to changes in work environment and ability to adapt and take on tasks as needed and required by the program
12. Skill in researching, compiling and formatting a variety of data for reports; attention to detail and ability to analyze and compare data
13. Skill in use of the Microsoft Office Suite, Banner, and web-based content management systems
14. Ability to interact with individuals and small and large groups
15. Ability to multitask and prioritize

Preferred Qualifications: • Proficiency in a second language • Experience living or studying abroad
