The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics of the University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health System (SHS) is seeking to recruit an Academic General Internist. The successful candidate should have additional training and clinical interest in Obstetric medicine to support a dynamic and growing program based at Mount Sinai Hospital, and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Effective start date is September 1, 2017, or shortly thereafter.
Responsibilities will include a combination of clinical care, teaching, and quality improvement with the mix of responsibilities depending on the successful candidate's background and job profile. Applicants suited for University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine's Clinician in Quality and Innovation and Clinician-Scientist academic positions will be particularly considered (see link for academic position description details: http://www.deptmedicine.utoronto.ca/academic-position-descriptions#AcademicPositionDescriptions). Competitive candidates will possess outstanding communication, teaching, organizational and interpersonal skills that enable them to work collaboratively with other physicians, learners, hospital staff and administrators. Candidates must also have an established track record of excellence in their areas of interest (clinical care, research, quality improvement) particularly for those seeking appointment at the Assistant Professor-or-higher level.
Applicants must be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. The successful candidate must hold MD qualifications and advanced methodological training (Master's Degree, Doctoral Degree or equivalent).
Academic rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate (estimated range $200-$250,000 per-year). Compensation will be negotiated and within the usual income range for an academic general internist in the Province of Ontario.
