This position coordinates and manages student leaders on multiple projects ranging from waste minimization to programming around local food. This position will provide opportunities for leadership training and organizational planning and development, and carries the expectation of presenting annually at national conferences.

Essential Functions

Program leadership and management:

  • Collaboratively organize, lead, plan, manage, and coordinate programs that engage students in campus and community operations focused on (but not limited to) waste minimization efforts, local food purchasing and farmers markets, and campus outreach and education, in ways that support and enhance student leadership.
  • Become a liaison between the Center for Sustainability and Student Life, Housing and Residential Education, the Environmental Sustainability Learning and Living Community, and Facilities.
  • In all program leadership, seek to enhance partnerships and understanding of the intersections of sustainability and social justice.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as demonstrated in past experience through tangible examples throughout the job responsibilities.
  • Oversee workstudy, budgeted student employees, volunteers and interns, up to 30 total.

Marketing, communication, and outreach:

  • Oversee website, social media, listserv, campus wide and national communication.
  • Set goals and track metrics on these activities.
  • Opportunities may exist to oversee student employees to assist with this work.

Education:

  • Assist with student employee trainings, orientations, employee trainings, and classroom presentations.

Office management:

  • Oversee basic office operations including student scheduling, payroll, purchasing, and communication (phone and email).
  • Opportunities may exist to oversee student employees to assist with this work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1 year project management experience, preferably in Higher Education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a sustainability related field.
  • 2+ years project management experience, preferably in Higher Education.
