Summer Sports Festival Camp Counselor - College Camp Assistant

The Alfred State Summer Sports Festival has part-time temporary employment opportunities during the camp dates starting June 26th running through July 20th. COLLEGE CAMP ASSISTANTS are temporary, casual positions; working with campers in small groups as a group leader, assistant group leaders, or assistant; may develop and conduct special activities for campers, such as educational and recreational programs.
The following positions are available:
1. Arts & Crafts Instructor
2. Sports Counselors
3. Learn to Swim Instructors
4. Life Guards
5. Water Safety Instructor
Supervise and assist campers in educational and recreational activities; ensure the safe arrival and departure of campers; escort campers to and from all scheduled activities; assist program staff in conducting various events; ensure campers eat lunch, maintain proper hydration, and apply insect repellent and sun screen. When assigned as group leaders or assistant group leader, supervise junior staff members, ensuring that they follow all schedules and camp safety guidelines; plan and conduct educational or recreational programs for campers, ensuring availability of materials and equipment; and coordinate or assist with sports competitions or camp productions.
Applicants must be a high school or college student or possess a GED or high school diploma. Experience working with school age children is a plus, specialized health and safety certifications may be required for certain positions.
The Life Guards and the Water Safety Instructor positions must have CPR, First Aid and life guard certificate. Applicants with prior recreational/camp experience will be given preference.
