The School of Medicine, Division of Cardiology has an opening for a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow. This position will focus on the molecular and functional genetics related to inherited arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathies.
A Full Time 100% Postdoctoral Associate position is available for an independent and motivated post-doctoral student to the study the genetic mechanisms of cardiomyopathies in the collaborative group of Luisa Mestroni, MD, and Matthew Taylor, MD, PhD (Cardiovascular Institute and Dept. of Medicine, University of Colorado Denver - Anschutz Medical Campus). The group utilizes molecular genetics, bioinformatics, and functional genomics (cellular models and induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes) to study mutant genes causing inherited cardiomyopathies. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics, Biology or Biochemistry, or have investigated a closely related field for their Ph.D. research project. Experience with basic molecular genetics, molecular and cell biology is required. Direct experience with induced-pluripotent stem cells is highly desired. Experience with NextGen sequening, bioinformatics, and animal models is desired; fluency in English is required. Evidence of a strong commitment to research from publications in high-impact journals and letters of reference is required.
- PhD, or other relevant terminal degree
Experience in the following:
- Molecular genetics
- Basic molecular and cell biology
- Experience with induced pluripotent stem cells
- Next Generation sequencing
- Gene expression analysis in primary cells and human tissue and of cardiomyopathy
