Under general supervision, performs standard support services related to insurance and accounts receivable duties within the Business Office of Student Health Services. Prepares and assists in the preparation of invoices, vouchers, bank deposits, budget requests, projections, receipts and summary reports. Responsible for processing Accounts Receivable to include posting transactions to various accounts, depositing checks received from various state agencies and programs as well as third party payers. Monitors account status to ensure timely transaction processing. Screens disbursement and fund transfer requests for accuracy, legality, and authorization. Assists professional staff in implementing financial procedural changes; confers with internal and external agency financial officials about procedures and records. Interprets accounting system policies, procedures, and forms. Supervises the collection and compilation of information for reporting purposes.
Monday thru Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm. However based on duties of position, individual may be called to assist with campus and individual crisis during evenings and weekends and during peak periods of high patient volume.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 2 years related experience, or equivalency.
Bachelor's degree, or high school diploma and 5 years work experience that is directly related to the area of employment or equivalency. Familiar with and able to apply basic accounting principles and critical thinking. Working knowledge of medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, and HCPCS coding), insurance filing and medical terminology. Experience using medical office software. Experience with direct and indirect customer service. Working knowledge of general office software applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience with accounts receivable especially in the area of college health and associated insurance programs.
