General Summary of Position:
The Coordinator of Intramural Sports will be directly responsible for the administration, supervision, and development of comprehensive intramural sports programs. Coordinator will assist with the management and administration of youth programming to include camps, aquatics, and sports/fitness programs. Coordinator will supervise part time student and professional staff.
Essential Job Duties:
-Implement fall and spring sport activities, including team leagues, team tournaments, individual leagues, dual leagues, dual tournaments, and specialty activities.
-Supervise the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating of sport activity staff and Intramural Sports Program staff which include approximately 45 scorekeepers, officials, and supervisors; in addition to, interns and program assistant employees.
-Administer program policies, procedures, and protocols (sport rules, staff manuals, program handbooks), framed around fostering relationships with participants and campus partners, developing excellence in student staff, and aligning with University, Student Standards and Conduct policies.
-Assist with marketing of the Intramural Sports Program.
-Serve as the primary point of contact for over 5,000 Intramural Sports Participants.
-Assist with maintenance and set up of all facilities utilized by the Intramural Sports program.
-Provide support to UML clubs and organizations looking to host sports related events and tournaments.
-Assist with the management of youth camp activities, including recreational summer camp, vacation week programs, youth sports and fitness specialty activities.
-Hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate interns and program assistant employees for youth programs.
-Administer program policies, procedures, and protocols (program rules, staff manuals, program handbooks), framed around fostering relationships with participants and parents.
-Evaluate information and statistics for activity, semester, and annual reporting.
-Implement short and long term goals for youth programs.
-Assist with marketing of the youth programs including brochure distribution and design.
-Administer the Campus Recreation risk management protocol throughout youth programs.
Below is a list of administrative duties that are necessary in each of the essential job duties.
-Evaluate participation statistics each semester and for annual reporting.
-Identify short and long term goals for use in area assessment, learning outcomes, and strategic planning, as well as participate in needs assessment for program and facilities.
-Oversee planned budget to including monthly budgeting, payroll, maintenance and equipment.
-Maintain website related to intramural sports.
-Utilize program and departmental software as needed including IMLeagues, EZ Facility, Subitup, HRDirect, and Google Drive.
-Administer Campus Recreation risk management protocols throughout all intramural and youth programs.
-Supervise the purchase, maintenance, and long term planning of inventory, including equipment and staff clothing.
-Assist with maintenance and set up of all facilities utilized by programs.
-Administer fitness program and facility policies, procedures, and protocols framed around fostering relationships with participants, creating an inclusive environment, and developing excellence in student staff.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
-Bachelor Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Administration/Management, Business, or a closely related field
-Previous experience in intramural sports training and risk management protocols
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
-Previous experience in youth programming
-Experience working with college aged students
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to relate effectively with college students, children, and parents
