GENERAL DUTIES

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The IT Senior Associate reports to the ICIT Systems and Networks Director, the Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing IT solutions for all five (5) campuses. The successful candidate will perform risk assessment of all our systems and work with system administrators to rectify them.

Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group.

Job duties include but not limited to:

  • Implement server-side virtualization and VDI utilizing VMware, Cisco UCS and NetApp infrastructure.
  • Design, implement & maintains Microsoft server technology solutions, including Active Directory, Windows Server, MS SQL, Exchange, SharePoint, SCCM, etc.
  • Deploy and maintain Red Hat Linux servers utilizing Cobbler and Puppet.
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge of Hunter ICIT Systems environment, including scheduling proactive upgrades/maintenance for all on premise systems.
  • Implement security architecture with McAfee or similar product. Define and establish IT security procedures, including access controls, log auditing, pen testing, etc.
  • Train system administrators & Provide IT support relating to issues with the internal/external systems.
  • Provide support services for all enterprise applications.
  • Assist with administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review.
  • Create and maintain documentation/flow charts for all computer systems and network infrastructure.
  • Maintain a Windows Active Directory environment including account management, group policy management, delegation, replication and overall health.
  • Test software applications and systems.
  • Identify departmental needs and make suggestions regarding technical direction.
  • Implement self-service and automation capabilities for new server deployments using orchestration tools.
  • Perform capacity planning and provide recommendations to enhance systems performance.
  • Establish performance & management standards for server/storage hardware and operating systems.
  • Install, configure, perform upgrades, and repair on server systems and storage subsystems, Including Dell & Cisco UCS servers, NetApp/Dell storage arrays.
  • Measure and monitors storage availability, response time, utilization and other metrics as required in multiple data centers.
  • Manage outages, identify root cause and resolve all server issues within allowed service levels.
  • Maintain proper backup schedules for restore/recover data as requested. Manage Data Lifecycle and Capacity Management.
  • Team Building & day to day supervision of Systems staff.
  • Evening/Weekend hours as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
  2. An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
  3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency
  4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional IT Certifications, such as: Microsoft MCP, MCSA, or MCSE, CISSP, Security+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or VMware VCP or RHCSA/RHCE is preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to self-lead through major projects.
  • Participate in the development of a viable, cost-effective disaster recovery capability.
  • Knowledge of tools like Palo Alto, Splunk, Solarwinds, Fireye, Infoblox, SCCM, Cisco Prime/ISE(ACS), Aruba Clearpass, Aruba Airwave, and VMware Orchestrator is a plus.
  • Experience in relevant scripting or programming languages (PowerShell, Python, bash etc.).
  • Understanding of high availability hardware and database systems design and implementation including cluster management, redundancy and failover testing.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and techniques including activity, schedule, budget, and resource planning.
  • Superior judgment, professionalism, problem resolution, team building, negotiation, and decision-making skills as well as the ability to work under continual deadline pressure.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of NetApp storage.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange is preferred.
  • Proven ability to accomplish critical project level objectives in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and techniques including activity, schedule, budget, and resource planning.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve complex issues quickly and efficiently, including identification of bottlenecks, performance tuning, etc.
  • Solid understanding of OSI model and core network protocols.
  • High Availability, Business Continuity Planning, Disaster Recovery, and IT Security concepts as they relate to systems and network infrastructure.
  • Good leadership and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of underlying architectural protocols: NFS/CIFS, FCoE, iSCSI, SMTP, DNS, DHCP, etc.

COMPENSATION

$92,014
