POSITION DETAILS

Borough of Manhattan Community College seeks an experienced individual who has the ability to work independently and as part of a successful BMCC Learning Academy team serving a diverse student population. The ideal candidate will provide a supportive environment and have the ability to easily build rapport and professional relationship with students, staff and the community.

BMCC Learning Academy (BLA) offers to students an integrated and comprehensive system of support from the point of admission to graduation or transfer out. The key program features include a consolidated block schedule with high impact activities, faculty mentorship, comprehensive advisement, academic success workshops and connection to all student support services and campus resources. Reporting to the Director of the BMCC Learning Academy, the successful candidate will be responsible, but not limited to, the following:

  • Collects data for, prepares, and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software;
  • Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities;
  • Maintain databases, records, and lists about program activities
  • Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing.
  • Manages office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information;
  • May supervise office peer staff and student workers;
  • Participate in special projects as needed.
  • Participate in student outreach efforts; prepare information/promotional material for new students.
  • Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department;
  • Provides prospective students with information regarding BLA and eligibility requirements;
  • Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department website(s); and maintains department archives and collections; and
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

Bachelor's degree in related field (student personnel administration, higher education, social science, education, communication, counseling). At least two years of administrative or program support experience highly preferred

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Access.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, communication (both written and verbal).
  • Experience with event planning and promotion.
  • Detail-oriented multi-tasker with independent initiative and good judgement.
  • Experience working in collaboration with students, staff/ faculty and administration.
  • CUNYFirst experience a plus.
