Unit Job Summary: The Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting, monitoring, and maintaining the system environments for the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business - Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP). This includes operational support of Virtual Environment, Windows laptops, desktops, and servers; as well as participating as a member of a team in CRSP Project efforts. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Install, configure, document, monitor, and maintain server software and infrastructure. - VMWare and Azure - Windows - Linux - HP Server and EMC SAN Install, configure, document, monitor, and maintain desktop/laptop software and infrastructure. Operational support - Provide help desk support for staff and consultants - Perform Active Directory administration - Monitor and maintain server backup operations Research Systems support including the following: - Windows Servers hosted on Azure - SQL server administration and support - 3rd Party application administration and support

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree OR an Associate's degree with at least eighteen months of relevant experience OR at least three years of relevant experience required.

Unit Experience: Experience with Windows and Windows server administration required. Experience with Microsoft SQL server administration required. Experience in root cause analysis required.

Unit Job Function Competencies: Excellent verbal and written English communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening skills, required. Demonstrated ability to communicate and document technical concepts required. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills required, including the ability to analyze and evaluate information objectively. Demonstrated ability to be reliable, accountable, and exhibit organization and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously, required. Willingness to work outside of normal work hours for production support and performing maintenance and upgrades as well as holiday coverage (on a rotational basis) is required. Working knowledge of appliance and software-based firewalls (Cisco ASA, Azure NSG) preferred. Working knowledge of virtual machines (VMWare, Azure virtualization) preferred. Working knowledge of laptop, desktop, server and storage (Dell, EMC, HP, and/or Lenovo) preferred.
