The Department of Surgery, Divisions of Orthopaedic and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, at Toronto Western Hospital is inviting applications for the position of Academic Hand Surgeon.This appointment is for a full time faculty position in the Hand Program within the Arthritis Program at University Health Network.

The effective date of this appointment is April 1, 2016.

The successful applicant will work within the Hand Program and will participate in the clinical care of upper extremity patients. The candidate will be required to participate in the teaching of medical students, residents, and hand surgery fellows and will add to the body of knowledge through original research.

The successful candidate should possess research skills as evidenced by advanced training and a publication history. Preference will be given to applicants with a basic science research interest and experience in wrist surgery. Advanced training in hand surgery and microsurgery are required. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Assistant Professor. The candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

The Hand Program at Toronto Western Hospital is comprised of 5 full-time clinical faculty including orthopedic and plastic surgeons and 2 part time faculty members offering non-operative upper extremity care and surgery for elective and traumatic upper extremity problems including replantation and microsurgery. A dedicated hand therapy service is on site.
