POSITION: Full-Time Lecturer in Advanced Studies in Education and Counseling – Special Education (2017-2018 Academic Year)

EFFECTIVE DATE: August 21, 2017 (Fall Semester)

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

• Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
• Education Specialist Teaching Credential.
• Evidence of a sustained and effective record of teaching in public, urban K-12 schools.
• Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence at the college level appropriate to the teaching assignment.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of current best practices in Special Education.
• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with diverse student populations.

• Moderate/Severe Education Specialist Teaching Credential.
• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Special Education or related field in education.
• A record of teaching excellence at the college level appropriate to the teaching assignment.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching a range of courses in Special Education including, but not limited to: Emerging Issues in Special Education, Urban Education, Collaboration, Advocacy in Special Education, Induction in Special Education, Research in Special Education, Assessment.
• Demonstrated skills to mentor Special Education teachers, including new teachers addressing induction standards in Special Education.
• Experience with inclusive educational practices in K-12 classrooms.
• Evidence of engagement in research and scholarly activities.
• Evidence of dissemination of research or scholarly activities (i.e., publications, presentations).

• Teach a wide range of courses in the Master of Science in Special Education and Education Specialist Credential Programs.
• Supervise credential candidates.
• Participate in and attend Special Education program meetings.

• Evidence of successful K-12 teaching experience (e.g., student teaching evaluations, letters of support).
• Evidence of successful college teaching experience, if available (e.g., student teaching evaluations).
• Copy of Education Specialist teaching credential(s)
• Copy of transcript from institution awarding highest degree.
• Finalists will be required to submit a signed SC-1 form and official transcript from institution awarding highest degree.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
