Job Description

3.7.4.1. Responsibilities
3.7.4.1.1. Apply IT infrastructure architecture concepts to assist WMATA teams responsible for developing infrastructure requirements in specific functional areas
3.7.4.1.2. Coordinate work to prevent overlap and ensure alignment with WMATA Enterprise Architecture Framework, IT strategy, strategic drivers and standards
3.7.4.1.3. Apply gap analysis techniques to define the nature and extent of IT infrastructure scope changes and communicate business case to decision makers
3.7.4.1.4. Prepare as-is and to-be IT infrastructure components including schematics to describe datacenters, networks, redundancy, failover, disaster recovery, storage, messaging, monitoring and other IT infrastructure components
3.7.4.1.5. Work with data and infrastructure architects and software program managers to ensure integrity of IT infrastructure systems and plans with overall Enterprise Architecture
3.7.4.1.6. Guide the work of technical systems/data analysts and documentation specialists
3.7.4.1.7. Recommend and support rationale for standards in the IT infrastructure arena

3.7.4.2. Minimum Requirements
3.7.4.2.1. Exceptional IT infrastructure architecture, systems administration, hardware deployment and planning skills
3.7.4.2.2. Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
3.7.4.2.3. Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Communications, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience
3.7.4.2.4. Experience using Microsoft Visio or other data or application visualization software to document IT infrastructure architectures
3.7.4.2.5. Experience using Microsoft Excel to perform basic hardware requirements and deployment documentation
3.7.4.2.6. Familiarity with MS Word and MS PowerPoint
3.7.4.2.7. Experience coordinating IT infrastructure requirements with application development teams to plan infrastructure support requirements
3.7.4.2.8. Proven ability to plan and deploy robust IT infrastructures to support a wide array of platforms including AIX, zOS, Unix and Microsoft
3.7.4.2.9. Experience performing the IT Infrastructure Architecture function, from conception to deployment in large organization
3.7.4.2.10. Experience with implementation and architecture of one or more of the following technology sets: virtualization, cloud computing, Identity Management, LDAP authentication, or mainframe migration

3.7.4.3. Preferred Requirements
3.7.4.3.1. Experience using the Abacus Enterprise Architecture repository to document relationship of IT infrastructure architectures to an enterprise architecture
3.7.4.3.2. Formal training in organization development, complex systems analysis, group facilitation or information systems requirements analysis
3.7.4.3.3. Experience in the transit industry
3.7.4.3.4. Experience in deploying IT infrastructure to support ServiceOriented Architectures (SOA) that integrate legacy applications across a J2EE, MS .NET, and/or legacy mainframes or mini environments
3.7.4.3.5. Experience in managing and planning infrastructure support and deployment for message-oriented middleware such as Webmethods, WebSphere, Seebeyond or BizTalk
3.7.4.3.6. Experience in managing and planning in managing infrastructure support and deployment for a Commercial Off The Shelf Software (COTS) portal framework such as SharePoint, AcquLogic Portal or Oracle Portal
3.7.4.3.7. Hands-on experience planning IT infrastructures supporting authentication or identity management solutions for large secure organizational enterprises
3.7.4.3.8. Large-scale network architecture experience
3.7.4.3.9. Large-scale IT security architecture experience

3.7.4.4. Experience Levels
3.7.4.4.1. Senior Infrastructure Architect: nine (9) or more years' experience
