Duties: The Compensation Specialist will research, collect, and analyze data to assist in staff Compensation decisions for the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM). The incumbent will conduct job classifications, reclassifications and salary reviews by analyzing and evaluating positions and recommending an appropriate grade and salary. S/he will provide advice/guidance to management regarding individual, department or PSOM salary management tools, techniques and practices. The incumbent will support the Sr. Compensation Specialist in position inventory control maintenance, administration of the annual merit increase program, analysis of overtime issues and unique payroll issues. Assists in analyzing wage and salary data and preparing salary surveys, as well as reports for senior management. Monitors and administers the additional pay and independent contractor review process. Participates in training sessions for PSOM hiring managers.

As needed, the incumbent will provide back-up support to the PSOM Sr. Recruiting Specialist by managing hiring proposals and establishing appropriate hiring salaries for candidates.

This position will report to the Human Resources Director with an indirect reporting relationship to the PSOM Executive Director, Administration and the Executive Director of Compensation. The position will also work under the guidance of the Sr. Compensation Specialist.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience in a Human Resources Compensation discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required. CCP and/or SHRM certification is a plus. Solid knowledge of the University's Personnel/Payroll system preferred. Familiarity with employment laws and regulations. Expert computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel. Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated negotiation skills.
